Fashionably Connected Internship Descriptions

Fashionably Connected can be your ticket to exposure, connections, and experience in the Fashion Industry. As a Fashionably Connected Intern you'll learn how the fashion industry works as an insider and have the opportunity to attend industry events, runway shows, boutique openings, conduct interviews with designers, write for our online magazine and more. Interns can work from any city and will be given assignments covering local fashion events and interviewing local fashion designers.

  4. In order to determine your commitment and quality of work you will be asked to complete a small project that will be due within two weeks.

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager will be involved in developing online and traditional marketing campaigns that promotes the Fashionably Connected brand and services to local fashion businesses. The position requires the planning, advertising, public relations, and organization of events and social media activities to execute a successful campaign. Excellent verbal and written communications required.  Sales background is strongly recommended.

Marketing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategy to promote and grow brand.

  • Oversee public relations specialists and assist in the implementation of promotion strategies.

  • Write and proof-read marketing copy to be used in promotions and PR activities.

  • Manage the production and distribution of marketing materials.

  • Develop marketing research projects and analyze results.

  • Identify topics for press releases and manage PR saturation with communications team.

  • Implement and review marketing strategy in weekly progress reports.

Requirements: Applicant should be an undergraduate or recent college graduate in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field and interested in obtaining experience in the fashion industry and online space. Communications Manager

The responsibility of the Communications Manager is to develop an internal communication strategy and manage communications among all members of the communications team. The Communication Manager will be responsible for maintaining the staff database and communicating news and information regularly to the team.

Communications Manager Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain staff database.

  • Liaison with new team members to collect photos and bios.

  • Setup blog access and update staff web page.

  • Communicate with managers to collect internal news and information.

  • Send out weekly emails using newsletter system to keep staff updated.

Requirements: Applicant should be an undergraduate or recent college graduate in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field. Applicant should have technical skills in areas such as photo editing, html, Wordpress and newsletter software and have keen attention to detail. Public Relations Specialist

The Public Relations Specialist is passionate about the business of fashion and understands the importance of a well-defined local media strategy. Duties will include creating a local media strategy to identify and expand brand awareness and increase utilization of the Fashionably Connected services. The position requires excellent writing and communication skills and development of media relations.

Public Relations Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Work with Marketing Manager and Fashion Editors to create promotion strategies.

  • Create and maintain local media list relevant to fashion and female publications.

  • Develop strategy to promote services to local fashion businesses.

  • Develop relationships with local media and identify opportunities for promotion.

  • Write press releases promoting news or services about our brand.

  • Implement PR strategy and communicate in weekly progress reports.

Requirements: Applicant should be an undergraduate or recent college graduate in public relations, communications, or related field and interested in obtaining experience in the fashion industry and online space. Journalism: Fashion Editor - Local Events

A Fashionably Connected Fashion Editor needs to be passionate about the business of fashion, possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, and can professionally and independently organize projects and manage people. The Fashion Editor will be responsible for planning monthly content for their city’s web site, coordinating Digital Communication team members to produce content and manage event coverage by Fashion Reporters.

Fashion Editor Responsibilities:

  • Keep current of fashion events that need to be covered and assign fashion reporters.

  • Coordinate brand message with Digital Communication Managers for monthly projects.

  • Coordinate timely written and digital event coverage for placement on blog by fashion reporters.

  • Edit written content, incorporate SEO objectives and maintain blog layout guidelines.

  • Provide weekly report of activities and progress.

Requirements: Applicant should be current journalism undergraduate or recent college graduate interested in obtaining experience in the fashion world and online space. Experience with Wordpress or similar blogging platform a plus. One year commitment for approximately 10 hours per week. Journalism: Fashion Reporter - Local Events

Fashion Reporters are required to attend one fashion event per week, interview event hosts and attendees and write an article to post on blog. The Fashion Reporter should present a professional appearance and be comfortable interviewing business owners and event producers. The Fashion Reporter must be willing to take direction from the Fashion Editor and coordinate event coverage with photographers and videographers as needed.  for video interviews, previous on camera and reporting experience is helpful.

Fashion Reporter Responsibilities:

  • Attend one fashion event per week, interview principals, and write blog article.

  • Coordinate digital content from photographer or videographer or provide own media.

  • Promote your article and other Fashion Reporter articles on social media platforms.

Requirements: Applicants should be journalism or fashion merchandising undergraduate or recent college graduate interested in obtaining experience in the fashion world and online space. Experience with blogging, html, and photo-editing a plus. Four month minimum commitment for  approximately 5 hours per week. Journalism: Fashion Reporter - Online Contributor

Fashion Reporters who provide online content will write two articles per month to be included in our Fashion Feature section of our web site. Articles will cover topics such as fashion history, style, philanthropy, tv, book or movie reviews, and national or international event coverage. Fashion Reporters must work with the Fashion Editor to plan assignments and coordinate with proper entities for rights to use digital files.

Fashion Reporter Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate assignments with Fashion Editor to coincide with news, events, seasons, or themes.

  • Incorporate and coordinate rights to use digital content for each article.

  • Post articles on the blog following the Fashionably Connected layout and SEO guidelines.

  • Promote your article and other Fashion Reporter articles on social media platforms.

Digital Communications: Blog Manager

The Blog Manager needs to be passionate about fashion, understand the power of social media, and interact with people in their local fashion blogosphere. The Blog Manager should possess good communication skills, excellent writing and editing skills, have a good understanding of search engine optimization techniques, photo editing experience and be familiar with Wordpress or a similar blog platform. This position will provide an opportunitity to connect with fellow internet fashion bloggers, stay current with fashion news and events in your city and promote the Fashionably Connected resources and services for the fashion industry.

Blog Manager Responsibilities:

  • Connect with local bloggers across social media platforms.

  • Communicate with local bloggers and build brand awareness about our services and resources.

  • Identify bloggers to recruit as guest bloggers and write for our Fashion Features category.

  • Create schedule for blog article themes which correspond to season or events.

  • Recruit bloggers to write articles, setup blog access, edit articles, and optimize for SEO.

  • Provide regular promotions to bloggers about our events, services, or resources.

  • Develop, implement, and track outreach strategy to promote blog articles across internet.

  • Provide weekly report of activities and progress.

Requirements: Experience in digital PR such as blogger outreach, content seeding, and buzz generation. Applicant should have demonstrable experience as an active participant in blogging, micro-blogging, forums, or other online engagement activities. The Social Media Manager is a creative thinker and passionate about the power of social media, networking and building relationships. The Social Media Manager should be well-versed about social media trends and changes, and technically proficient at setup of social media profiles and applications. This position will provide an opportunitity to be a resource and promoter for local fashion businesses.

Social Media Manager Responsibilities:

  • Communicate online to build brand awareness about our services and resources.

  • Identify good online connections on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

  • Promote our brand, resources, and services to the online fashion community.

  • Promote local fashion businesses and "like", comment, or retweet their posts.

Digital Communications: Webcast / Podcast Production Manager

The Webcast / Podcast Production Manager is technically adept at using webcast production software and comfortable interviewing and collaborating with clients. The Webcast / Podcast Production Manager is an independent worker and creative thinker who can organize productions and communicate with clients in a professional manner. This position will provide an opportunitity to connect with local fashion businesses and interview movers and shakers in the fashion community.

Monthly Webcast Production

  • Create content for monthly 3 minute local fashion event webcasts.

  • Schedule video interviews with event hosts to promote their event.

  • Coordinate with Account Executive for webcast sponsorship graphics.

  • Edit video, create graphics, produce, and upload webcast to designated online spaces.

  • Coordinate with Blog Manager and Social Media Manager to promote webcast.

  • Provide weekly report of activities and progress.

Weekly Podcast Production

  • Create weekly 3 minute podcast covering local fashion news and events.

  • Schedule phone interviews or attend events to create recorded content.

  • Edit audio content and record voice-overs to create podcast following design guidelines.

  • Coordinate with Account Executive for webcast sponsorship graphics.

  • Upload podcasts to designated online spaces.

  • Coordinate with Blog Manager and Social Media Manager to promote podcast.

  • Provide weekly report of activities and progress.

Requirements: Demonstrable technical experience in webcast / podcast production and conducting interviews.  Applicant should be curious about the business of fashion and possess professional interview skills. Media related degree, video production software and consumer grade video equipment a must. Possibility for on-camera work but not required. Attention to detail and on-time completion critical. One year commitment for approximately 10 hours per week.

Web & Graphic Design

The Web & Graphic Design Intern will provide technical and design support to the communications team for online and offline marketing and promotions. Duties will require intern to prepare print layout and web site updates in a timely manner, often with a quick turnaround. Ideal candidate will possess good communication skills, respond promptly to requests, and be a supportive team player.  This intern position must have a creative eye that appeals to the fashion industry.

Web & Graphic Design Intern Responsibilities:

  • Update business cards and press passes.

  • Design graphics for web site and marketing promotions.

  • Update web site pages and assist with blog postings as needed.

Requirements: Candidate should be proficient with Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign and be able to edit html. Four month minimum commitment for approximately 10 hours per week.
